Dear ISEP Members, my colleagues, my friends,
This morning I was supposed to be standing in front of you, greeting you in welcoming remarks for our bi-annual ISEP meeting. Instead we find ourselves sheltering-in-place in our countries, in our homes; physically separated, but socially very much together.
I have been so encouraged by how our discipline has reacted to these extraordinary circumstances. Virtual meetings and seminar series have begun connecting our community with a reach and frequency that will give us momentum to take us through the pandemic, and I hope well beyond.
In the coming weeks, the ISEP Executive Committee will be discussing how to hold the elections that normally take place at our bi-annual meeting and transition to a new committee. This information will be sent out to the membership as soon as we are able.
I look forward to seeing you all again in person at the next ISEP meeting. In the meantime, I hope that you are all safe, taking care of your mental and physical health, caring for your friends, your family, (your protists), and yourselves.
Sincerely
Joel B. Dacks, ISEP President 2018-2020
